Our Story

“In the past 30 years since I obtained my first Real Estate license, much has changed, both in the industry and in my personal approach to the business. While the basic job is the same–assisting people with the buying and selling homes–a larger purpose has come into focus for me. That is, to create a thriving referral-based business by generating appreciation and gratitude for everyone. EVERYONE… clients, lenders, support teams, fellow agents, service contractors, and so on. When appreciation and gratitude are present, everything else just works, and we attract the kind of business and the kind of clients who respond in kind. The goal of creating this atmosphere and culture is truly the thought that proceeds every action we take. I am proud to say that everyone on Team Castle is inspired by this mission. The age of the traditional salesperson is coming to a close, and I am excited to see what we create moving forward, into the future, with the next generation of Real Estate professionals.”

Designated Broker/Owner

I was first licensed in 1988 in Chester County, Pennsylvania.  Like my father before me, I specialized in horse properties.  With the guidance of several mentors over the years, I learned all aspects of residential Real Estate sales.  I moved to Washington State in 1991, and continued my Real Estate career, after taking a couple of years hiatus working for a local builder, and building custom homes from the ground up.  I learned every aspect of residential construction – which remains some of the most valuable education in the Real Estate business.

I opened my own company, Castle Realty, in May, 2000 in Olympia Washington, and became the youngest Broker in Thurston County at that time.

My business philosophy is simple:  Build strong REALTIONSHIPS, and provide EXCELLENT service.  These are the fundamentals of building a strong, successful, REFERRAL BASED business.  Over the years I have had the privilege of serving hundreds of clients, selling hundreds of homes, and mentoring dozens of agents.  In the years I have been in the Real Estate business, the economy has been through many changes and the housing market has had some historic challenges.  All the while, my company has remained committed to BEING IN SERVICE to our clients.  As a result, our past clients refer to us again and again.

Born into a family of real estate agents, I was raised to appreciate the value of hard work, the importance of quality service, and the honor that is a personal referral. Taking these lessons forward I built a successful horse business hosting camps, training and giving riding lessons.

Eventually my students started the process of buying farms to keep their horses at and a new passion emerged – consulting on horse properties. Now, I love working with Buyer’s and Seller’s here in the South Sound.

Though I specialize in horse properties, I work with all residential clients. I work with my clients long term with no pressure. Whether it’s helping you find the right property for YOU and your unique situation, to prepare your home to sell and move on to the next leg of your journey, or helping you figure out the first steps – I am here to help!

Justin & Krosbie Carter

We are a husband and wife real estate duo! Together, we have over 20 years of housing-related experience, from physically building homes as a carpenter, to helping write housing policy in Thurston County.

A core value we share is for honest communication and authentic relationships. People we work with aren’t just “clients”–you are people we care for and want to help on your path to financial peace of mind and future stability.

Our decision to work together stems from a strong desire to support our family, be present with our children, and invest our time and energy back into our community.

After spending the better part of a decade working in retail and customer service, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to bring that experience to Castle Realty, and to take responsibility for the behind-the-scenes tasks that will allow our team to give you their undivided attention.

I have a BA in English from Western Washington University and am an active member of the local community theater company, so I appreciate the value of clear communication and organization, and I look forward to supporting you in whatever way I can!

Dawn Emilia Young

Dawn Emilia Young

Broker/Transaction Coordinator

I am a creative problem-solver with a diverse background that includes extensive community theater management, small business ownership and years of living abroad. Since 2001, the south Puget Sound region has been my home, but I was raised in Seattle and the San Juan Islands and have connections all over Washington State. My two grown children, younger daughter and infant son have all attended (or will attend) Yelm schools.

What drew me to real estate was the opportunity to provide a service for people, something I’ve been doing for the past 15 years through an eco-friendly carpet cleaning business I own with my husband. Over 1,000 clients have entrusted us with the keys to their ‘kingdoms,’ knowing that we will take care of their needs professionally and discreetly. Similarly, Castle Realty clients can count on me to advocate for their best interests in a spirit of integrity and transparency.

I earned my real estate license in 2021 and haven’t stopped learning since. At Castle, I am surrounded by a supportive team of agents who consistently bring something new to the table, regardless of how long they’ve been in the industry.

The skills I’ve gained elsewhere translate well to Real Estate. Working as a theater producer and production manager trained me how to keep track of key details, timelines and sequential steps while collaborating with multiple people in distinct roles. As a board member for a community water association, I’ve also navigated complex challenges with county health and ecology departments.

My passions include art, nature, travel and finding the joy and beauty in individual houses that match my clients’ visions of a dream home.

From the ground up perspective!
(26 years experience)
Specialties: Buyer’s Agent, Listing Agent, Foreclosure, Investing
I bought my first property in 1988. It was a small fixer-upper farm house on five acres. I worked hard, improved the house and the land, and sold it for a nice profit a few years later. I was hooked on Real Estate, and decided to become a licensed Broker.

Since then, I have worked with many clients, each with unique needs and desires. These clients include home buyers and sellers, investors, land developers, and builders. It is this broad range of experience that I have to offer new prospective clients. I enjoy it and I’m happy to do it. I want my clients to do well, and I’ll work hard to make sure that happens.

I moved to WA from Switzerland in 1997 and completed my studies by earning a BA from Pacific Lutheran University in 1998.

Since then, I have accumulated nearly 20 years of combined professional experience in bookkeeping, construction, cabinet design and kitchen/bathroom remodel design. All of which provide me with a wider perspective and a distinct edge when it comes to guiding customers through all aspects of real estate transactions.

I was first licensed in 2006 and have been involved in real estate ever since. I recently returned to real estate full-time and look forward to help my clients achieve successful outcomes, whether they are in the market to sell or buy a home.

Sellers will benefit from my extensive design and remodeling background when it comes to deciding how to best spend their budget, before making improvements that will increase the value of their home and appeal to a wider audience of buyers.

Buyers, on the other hand, will benefit from the same background in terms of identifying properties with great remodeling and improvement potential.

My professional journey has taught me that it pays to be patient and I will dedicate time and effort to ensure that my clients realize their real estate dreams.

I’m enthusiastic and excited about being a Real Estate Broker. Before this I was a school teacher for 10 years. Then a stay-at-home mom and yoga instructor. During that time period we moved quite a bit. In total, we bought four homes and sold three. I learned a lot during that time!

I know the ins and outs of being financially ready to buy, how to find a home that resonates with you and the trials and tribulations of home renovations. I also know the attention to detail it takes to sell for an amount that is acceptable for the love and care you put into your investment.

It feels natural to me to help others with their buying and selling journey. Investments in real estate are exciting and dynamic when you have a caring team to support you.

Feel free to reach out  if I can help in any way. Even if you are in the planning stages of buying or selling and need someone to listen with care.

I’ll leave you with a favorite quote by Mary Oliver.  “Keep some room in your Heart for the Unimaginable.”
